When I first took the SAT test, I felt like I was very prepared. possibly even over prepared. I had looked over all the study guides, taken the PSAT at my high school, and done a few practice tests. Despite all my preparing, I was still nervous when test day came. As I recall, everyone in line was nervous. After all, this test would tell us how qualified we were for a college education. After all was said and done, I ended up with a score that was good, but not great. I felt I could do better. Then some friends of mine, who were a grade ahead of me, told me that I should take the test again. They said that this time I shouldn’t study as much, and just go into it with a fresh mind. I thought they were crazy, but I figured I had nothing to lose.
So, I scheduled another test date, and didn’t worry about it as much. Come test time, I found myself thinking clearer. The test seemed a little easier on the second go around. I actually felt that I wouldn’t do that much better, but when I got the results from the second test I was overjoyed to see that I had improved my previous grade by 80 points. I felt much more confident about my college applications with that grade. In my experience, it is a good idea to take your college entrance exam twice, be it SAT or ACT. Plan ahead, and give yourself enough time to take the test twice. This way, you can improve your grade if you mess the first test up.
